Natalie Randolph

Former Football Coach, Science Teacher, Leader, Inspiration

Natalie Randolph is a former football coach in Washington, DC and during her time as coach was believed to be the only female in the country actively coaching a boys varsity team. During her tenure as coach she was passionate about increasing the academic achievement of student athletes in low-income schools and during the first season, guided her team to increase their average GPA from 2.6 to 3.0. She served four seasons at the helm and was able to take the team to the district championship Turkey Bowl in 2011, only her second year as coach. Graduates of her program had a 100% acceptance rate into college, university, or other post secondary program and among her successful college students are those that currently attend Morehouse College, Old Dominion University, Clemson University, East Carolina University, North Carolina A&T, and the University of San Diego.

Although she has always had a love for football, she first got the chance to play when she joined the DC Divas Women's Tackle Football Team and played with the team for six seasons, earning a championship in 2006. It was this football experience that prompted the HD Woodson Head Football coach to request her assistance with the boys varsity team where she became the only female football coach of any kind in the District of Columbia. In the fall of 2008 Natalie changed schools and began teaching environmental science and biology at Calvin Coolidge High School where she did not continue coaching. In 2010 the administrative team at Coolidge suggested she apply for the head coaching position at the school since the previous coach had resigned. After applying and going through an interview process that considered 11 other candidates, Natalie was selected as the Head Coach of the Calvin Coolidge Senior High School Varsity Football team.
